A magical place
The Ecrins National Park is the best place to discover and appreciate both sides of the Ecrins massif and the Oisans valley as a whole. This natural area is particularly attractive for its biological and geological wealth, with lakes, cliffs and waterfalls. At the same time, it’s a park that’s been modernizing over the years. Our modernization efforts are reflected in the tools made available in our seven Park Houses. These facilities are the workplaces of the park’s field teams. At the same time, they act as a reception area for visitors interested in the jewels hidden in this protected area, and who wish to venture out on the various hiking trails.
Welcoming the publicin the Park Houses
These establishments are showcases for the park and the region. In particular, this territory includes the 49 communes that have signed up to the park’s preservation charter, bringing its membership area to 159,600 hectares. At the Maison du Parc, visitors are offered a range of information resources, a gift store and a personalized welcome from a receptionist. In addition, there is a temporary and permanent exhibition space, as well as an audiovisual and conference area.
The Maisons du Parc offer a warm welcome and a wide range of activities. Visitors are invited to take part in conferences and workshops. The Maisons also organize presentations and offers to discover the region. You’ll also find a host of educational tools produced by park staff, including books and audiovisual aids. They are spread across Isère and Hautes Alpes.
The Oisans Park House
The Maison du Parc de l’Oisans is located in Bourg-d’Oisans, one of the area’s top destinations. The facility offers visitors a visual presentation of the natural riches of the Oisans valley. The Maison du Parc also showcases various mountain professions, including pastoralism. It’s also the place to go if you want to find out more about the park, from its natural gems to its history.
It’s the place to go for information on the Ecrins massif, with its rugged landscapes contrasting with the vast expanses of alpine pastures all around. Among the natural treasures on display at the Maison du Parc are the enormous glaciers that have carved out magnificent valleys dotted with lakes and waterfalls. These fortresses of stone and ice lead to the places where human societies settled and organized themselves. It’s fascinating to see the tenacity of these communities in the face of the mighty landforms that surround them.
